Today we meet Ric McMahon, an apprentice really starting to make a name for himself around town. Ric (tells me he has no nickname?) is 17, single and lives at home in Hendra. He enjoys fishing and watching the footy – he is a mad Bronco supporter.
The best horse he has ridden is Starlactic who has been on 5 times for 4 wins. He has ridden 102 winners, 32 of them in town. The highlight of his career so far was riding his first winner, which was Pardon for Liam Birchley.
Ric loves the thrill of riding but is not so keen on the early starts. His favourite drink is coke (not allowed a beer yet) and loves a steak at the creek. His boss Brian Smith has been the biggest influence on his career, and Zac Purton is the jockey Ric admires most.
