9th May 2006 : Tony Pattillo is 32 and lives with his wife, 10yo daughter, twin 9yo boys and a baby 9mths old. Sounds like he has his hands full!
Tony, nicknamed “Bones” has been in the game since he was 14 and rode his first race at 16. Over the years his best wins have been on Spurson in the Grand Prix Stakes and Forest Jim in the Ipswich Cup. He rates his 2nd in the Group 1 Sandown Cup on Forgotten Hero another of his highlights. Tony feels Kidmans Cove, that he won a Weetwood on, is the best horse he has ridden, and he loves the riding style of the champion French jockey Gerard Mosse.
The best thing for Tony about being a jockey is being able to work with horses, which he loves and is the only thing he ever wanted to do. The worst part of a jockey’s life for Tony is having to work weekends, which makes him miss many family activities. His worst moment in racing was when his younger brother Tad had his horrific fall at Nanango, and his best day was last year on Ipswich Cup day when he rode three winners including the Cup and the Eyeliner.
Tony’s favourite drink is a Coke, and he loves eating spicy food, the more chilli the better. To relax he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and going to the movies. The biggest influence on Tony’s career has been his father Ken, and Shane Scriven.
