Tornado Blitz was ridden more forward today at Caloundra by Jim Bryne in a Class 2 race over 2200m. Ensuring a solid pace by forcing Jim was able to put earll pressure on the well backed favourite who was leading as they entered the staright. At the 300m mark, Dictatorship ridden by Paul Hammersley made significant contact with Tornado putting him off balance and clearly loosing momentum.
After the bump Tornado still fought on gamely to be only beaten a half head, and upon arriving back to the stalls Jim made it fairly clear he thought he had grounds for a protest. After about 20 agonising minutes for connections, the Stewards upheld the protest and it was in to the Champagne room to celebrate the victory.
